Is My Oatmeal Ready Yet?!

Hello everyone! Is my oatmeal ready yet? My first meal of the day is sometimes Oatmeal. Yep, that's what I said, I like Quakers Quick Oats for breakfast. Sometimes it's breakfast, my first meal can be as late as 11am or Noon. I guess noon would be considered lunch. I basically endeavor to eat only 2 meals a day. If I eat 3, those 3 meals will stay within my daily calorie allowance. My goal when counting calories is to not go over but always stay under or meet that goal.

Oatmeal is great for the body and friendly to my kidneys. I do not use salt in the preparation of my oatmeal. I don't use salt anymore in the preparation of any meal. I don't cook with salt anymore. Sodium is not my friend and I consume as little as possible, staying within or under my 2000mg daily limit. So much food naturally contains sodium, you wouldn't believe how much sodium is a part of the daily diet without manually adding salt to your food.

Oatmeal is tasty and it's also filling as well.

Oftentimes I prepare a small container of berries and sliced apples to put on top of my oatmeal. It's quite tasty and gives me an opportunity to add even more fruit to my daily diet. I also add different Oat milk based coffee creamers on top of the oatmeal. It gives you a sweet and flavorful bonus to the oatmeal.  I stay away from dairy as much as possible. Like Almond Milk many dairy based coffee creamers contain  carrageenan, a food emulsifier that can cause digestive issues for some. Lord knows I don't need anymore digestive issues at all! I just add 1-3 tablespoons and no more. I do have a sweet tooth and this is how I can satisfy that sweet craving without snacks etc.

Take Care everyone! See you next time. You Can Do This! Stay on track and keep moving forward!

Salad Anyone?

Hello everyone! Salad has become a major part of my diet. I endeavor to eat a salad everyday if my schedule allows. Salads are wonderful and can be customized to your health needs. I choose vegetables that are good for helping to keep a healthy blood pressure level and for the kidneys. I’m 60 years old and maintaining a healthy diet is important to maintain a healthy body as well. In my latter years I don’t want to depend on medications and doctors. The issues I have with my kidneys was caused by the medication I took for years. That medication had a major lawsuit and is discontinued. If only I’d known that years ago. I followed the doctor’s instructions and now I have stage 3 kidney disease. I was taking a medication daily that was damaging my kidneys and I had no clue. So many medicines cause other medical issues and damage other organs in the body. I truly prefer using fruit and vegetables to help heal and keep the body healthy. The salad above contained many vegetables. My new...

Don't Be Afraid of Stand Still

Hello everyone! Don't be afraid of standing still. What I mean is standing still in your weight loss journey. There will be periods of time that your weight loss will stand still. I mean really still. You will not lose weight yet you're sticking to proper eating habits and exercise. This too shall pass. I've gone through periods like this often enough.  I remember, it seemed like I couldn't lose weight no matter what. All of a sudden it was like I dropped twenty pounds overnight. I'm serious, I noticed I'd lost a lot of inches my clothes were much bigger on me. I also want to point out you may not lose pounds but you will be losing inches. Look I've learned to just go with the flow. If you don't learn to go with the flow you will become an emotional roll coaster on your weight loss journey.  Just take a deep breath. Everything will be alright! Really! Just keep going. At the beginning of your weight loss journey. The weight will come off pretty easy and ...
